Re: General Challenge Chat

Whenever someone comes up with a good idea.

How about make a flora generator? By that I mean some program that generates a plant randomly. So no image! It could generate a tree or a flower or whatever you want. I don't know if it's to hard though.
It would be even better if it's able to move realisticly when there is wind or something, but that would be pretty difficult I think.

Re: General Challenge Chat

well if you guys havn't noticed yet, the forum activity has been very low and we (moderators) have been discussings this in the staff section. But our progress has been very slow, ut the ideas that we have come up with will surly boost the forum activity, but we also need your guys help, we need you guys to recommend this site to anyone you know with good programming skills. Remember, this is as much your site as it is ours, don't let it die.

In the mean time though I guess I could setup a new challange for you guys, just give we some time to come up with something for ALL skill levels (that means no plant generator HeHeHe )

Re: General Challenge Chat

well its a challenge.

Besides I don't think its hard to generate grass for example. Just a couple of lines. It gets hard when you want it to move realisticly i think.

Re: General Challenge Chat

yes it is but you and I both know that lots of people can't do that. But if you can get at least 3 other people to agree with you then I'm all for it.

BTW their will be NO PRIZE except bragging rights (unless Charlie finally comes back)

Re: General Challenge Chat

ok we'll see. I wont code myself untill the 2th week of feb, with my tests and all. But maybe I'll just try something when I take a break. I guess I can always code that plantgenerator myself.

Don't need anything else but bragging rights.

Re: General Challenge Chat

what would you guys think about making a visualization generator. you've all seen it, its those cool looking effects that you watch when you listen to music, it can be abstract as you want it. since lua can't measure sound it doesn't have to match sound waves. What you guys think? to hard, don't like it, or its good.

Re: General Challenge Chat

Hmmm. don't know. Won't be really hard and can be fun. However it would be way cooler if LUA was able to measure the sound waves frequencies and amplitudes ofcourse. Although maybe that would make it easier? Just say if a specific frequency range is present then draw something corresponding to its amplitude. I'm just guessing that's how those things work.
